Ours will knead on my chest or stomach, constantly purring - loudly. She also will bump her head on my face (guess she is trying to nudge me awake). She will also, nudge my hand trying to get me to pet her. She must do that quite a bit because I will sometimes wake up and I am petting her. Man, though her purring is LOUD. Always heard purring is happy so guess she is a happy kitty.

Snickers runs back and forth between the kitchen and the bedroom. He sits by the head of my bead howling and whining until I get up and give him his breakfast. After he inhales it, he gets back on the bed and conks out.

Cookie sits on the bed near my shoulders and stares at me. I don't know how she manages to wake me up doing so, but she does.

If I don't respond within a reasonable period of time, then she emits one of her little chirrs. Usually all she wants is to be petted, and I can do that while I'm still half asleep.

Checkers is less subtle -- he'll just stand on me and meow -- but he rarely wakes me up.

Usually the two that sleep with me don't bother me. But Jem, my vampire cat, (whole other story), will come up on the bed and take one of his paws and gently swipe my face until I get up. Then he eats breakfast and promptly goes to sleep until it's dark outside. That is the only time he will go out. Guess I should rename him Barnabas.

Jasper is a smart cat. He might purr loudly once in awhile, knead me. But most of the time, he just stays hunkered down in the feather bed, and down comforter, wrapped in the electric blankie. Smart cat!

Thankfully, my cat does not get up until I do. If he does happen to awaken before us, he sits at the bottom of the stairs and makes a pitiful little meow that's not enough to wake me, but tells me he's there once I wake up. Honestly, I would really prefer not to have a feline alarm clock. Had a siamese once that would sit perched at the edge of the bed waiting for the first sign of me waking and then would go into a meowing frenzy. It's was quite annoying on those Saturday mornings when I woke up a 5:30 but planned on going back to sleep!
