The proprietor of this establishment has operated many restaurants. After he left the one on Elizabeth St., it became the Empty Glass and is still going strong. None of the others still exist. I'll be surprised if this one is still operating in 2 years. There was an article in the Gazette-Mail on Sunday about this place that mentioned all of his previous food endeavors.
Just noticed that the hotel on the corner of Leon Sullivan and Washington (currently called the Capital Hotel) is re-branding to become a Ramada. I find it interesting how hotel brand names just bounce around from building to building. To my knowledge, Ramada has been in two other buildings in the area. My favorite example being how the now Four Points used to be a Ramada, and before that it was a Holiday Inn. In South Charleston the original Ramada became a Holiday Inn.
Danny did always have good barbecue back in the day- I was young but I do have memories of the place. Does anyone remember Joey's? I really liked that place and wish it was still around!
I find it odd that 6 years later they are still blaming the water crisis. I have never been there, so it's not too upsetting for me. Maybe another restaurant will move into the space. I'm surprised that an Asian restaurant hasn't tried moving in up there.

I thought the same thing but if you read the account of Gunnoe's settlement, it makes sense to me because the settlement wasn't for as much as they felt they lost.
Obviously with the recent pandemic, business projects haven't been too active in recent weeks. However, I did notice that the old Chase Bank building on the East End was demolished. Anyone have any word on what might happen there? It's a prime lot, but it's not super big.
Chris, I may have missed it, but did the New China bldg get demolished?
Yes it did. That intersection feels incredibly empty now.
