If you are looking for cheap movies, go to the Cinemark theater in Matthews. If you don't mind waiting for the movie to come to the second theater it is SOOO much less expensive to go here. I took my three kids and two more from down the street for a grand total of $15 including the popcorn!

Do they take credit or debit cards? How is the quality of the theater?

They do take credit/debit cards and the quality is just fine. I have never felt uncomfortable taking my kids there. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the new theaters but I could care less about that. I just want the big movie experience and this does just fine. Go check it out!

I also didn't know that AMC was $5 during the week. We are new to town and went last week to the theater in Mooresville near exit 36 during the day. It was $7 each and concession were not cheap. We spent about $30 for two to go to the movies. That is crazy!
AmStar in Mooresville is more expensive than AMC, except on Tuesdays when the tickets are either $5.00 or $5.50 (can't remember). I enjoy going there, as well...but only on Tuesday!

I saw Grown Ups at the AMC in Concord on Saturday. Went to the 10am showing and it was $5/person.

It was $5.50 for a small popcorn and $7.50 for a large. We received a free coupon for a Soda and the wife wanted to pay to upgrade to a large. It cost us $1.00. We would have bought a popcorn too but didnt want to pay the money. They made money off us but not much.
