That theater is kinda gross... it either needed to close or have some severe renovations done.
Yeah it did need some work done but it's nothing compared to the dollar moie theatre in Matthews. That one is insanely run down. Was that an actual theatre beforehand?
I was very disappointed - and shocked - that the theater in Monroe was closed down within DAYS of the Sun Valley theater opening.
Sure, SV is very nice, I wouldn't expect it to be anything less than what it is, but there was nothing wrong with the one in Monroe. It wasn't gross at all. It was older. Everyone doesn't feel compelled to run to shiny and new because it's available.
It would've been nice to have the option to attend either. I believe there was enough distance between to sustain both. I wonder what options are available in Anson County, particularly the western portion. If the Monroe theater was their main option, SV is quite a trek.

I'm with you on this....
I live much closer to the SV theater, however I think Monroe was sustainable...
Regarding Anson, my guess is either goto Wadesboro, or trek out east to Rockingham in Richmond County

Re: traveling further ... an extra 10 minutes to have a much nicer theater would be worth it IMO if I was driving that far... to each their own.
