I heard last year that they were going to build a new theater in Sun Valley, NC. I was just wondering if that was true. And if so, when are they starting? And will it be done by this year? Or next?
Thanks so much!

Stone Theatre to Build Movie Theatre in Indian Trail

Posted On: November 18, 2010 Stone Theatres and The Moser Group, Inc. are pleased to announce an agreement for Stone Theatres to build a 14-screen multiplex at Sun Valley Commons in Indian Trail. The site, located approximately 1 mile off Independence Blvd. at the intersection of Old Monroe Road and Wesley Chapel Stouts Road, currently has a CVS Pharmacy, McDonalds, Starbucks and various other retail and restraint tenants. The 55,000 square-foot, modern cinema-house will be the largest in the Indian Trail/Union County communities and will feature:
2,8000+ Stadium Seats with comfortable high-back rocker seating and retractable, padded arm rests and cup holders
14 fully expanded wall-to-wall screens PDX Deluxe Auditorium (Premium Digital Experience)
2D and 3D Digital Projection[*]DOLBY 7.1 Surround Sound
Upgraded Rocker Seating[*]Extra Large Wall-to-Wall Screens[/list]
DOLBY Digital and DTS Digital sound
Rear Window Captioning (RWC) for deaf and hearing impaired guests
Descriptive Video Service (DVS) for blind and visually impaired guests
MovieAwards customer loyalty program
Superior concessions including pizza by Pizzeria Uno, gourmet pretzels, hot dogs, nachos, Coca-Cola product beverages and other quality items.

“Stone Theatres is extremely excited to bring this much needed stat-of-the-art facility to Indian Trail and the surrounding Union County Communities,” says company President and CEO Herman Stone.

“Additionally, we are extremely enthusiastic about this wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Sun Valley Commons. We expect to build a beautiful show palace for the community, a place you will be proud to see a movie at. The site will be convenient for this growing residential community and upon completion should employ as many as 50 employees.”

According to Dennis W. Moser, MAI, President, and CEO of The Moser Group, INC. the company is adding 27.7 acres for Phase III to accommodate the theatre. Sun Valley Commons will include a total of 53 acres and include outparcels available for retail/office and/or restaurants. All sites will be pre-graded with the majority including parking, lighting, water, sewer, and storm drainage. "This development will change the shopping pattern for southern Mecklenburg County and all of Union County, keeping residents at home and spending in Union County. It is great for our tax base, jobs, and schools."

"The total investment for Phase III will be $45to $60 million, creating over 500 jobs. Based on our research, the Sun Valley Commons area is underserved by retail and resaurants. The theatres' regional draw will support the new proposed uses including national tenants" says Katherine Southard of The Moser Group, Inc., who will be marketing the project along with Van Southard, CCIM, MBA.

Stone Theatres, headquartered in Charlotte, NC presently operates 3 locations with 44 screens located in North and South Carolina. Prior to forming Stone Theatres, Mr. Stone was President and CEO of Consolidated Theatres headquartered in Charlotte, NC. Consolidated Theatres consisted of 34 locations and over 400screens operating along the Eastern seaboard, including Phillips Place, Park Terrace and Arboretum in Charlotte and Union Square in Monroe.

The company has plans for continued growth throughout the eastern United States. Stone Theatres is committed to continuing its reputation as the premier theater operating company in the United States.

The Moser Group, Inc., headquartered in Indian Trail, recently completed the new Lowe’s Home Improvement, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Papa John’s, and CVS in the Sun Valley Commons area. The company also has contracts pending.

Work on a 14-screen movie theater in Indian Trail continues to progress. The Moser Group, which is development the project, broke ground two months ago. “They just put the walls up and it’s supposed to be open by Memorial Day,” Katherine Southard, a broker for the Moser group, said. Features of the theater include 2,800 seats, upgraded rocker seating, extra large wall-to-wall screens

Ticket prices will be expensive no doubt and it will increase traffic, but I pass it every day and they are making great progress!!!

There are ZERO theaters in my area from Matthews to Monroe. I prefer to go to Matthews because its safer, but something like this is SORELY needed for the local area and Union County to keep my $$.....

Glad to see it going up. I suspect it will generate additional business in that area.

This is a much needed upgrade for the Indian Trail area. With a little research, the Stone Theater group looks to be offering $4.50 "First Showing" deals, 7 days a week. The prices are for showtimes before 1:30pm. I am hoping that this promotion will apply to this new location.

There is now a sign up that says a Moe's Southwest Grill and a Frozen Yogert Shop will be there also.

Great fine dining, just what Indian Trail needs. There's a good FroYo shop right accross the street, but since it is a independently owned, I'm sure Indian Trail planning had no problem issuing a permit for another chain.
