As a recent transplant to the area, my body is still trying to adjust to the changes. It seems like every other week or so I'm trying to fight off some type of bug or trying to control my allergies. I read somewhere that consuming local honey will help with allergies, so I decided to give it a shot.

I figure that I can probably get locally made honey at a farmers market, but are there any other places that sell local honey? Or are there farmer's markets that are open during the week that may sell local honey?

Thanks for your help

Farmer's markets will have it.

If you cannot get to a farmers market, I know Earthfare sell a local honey.

I get mine at Earth Fare. They have a big stand of Ritter's honey, which is the most delicious honey I've ever had, next to the produce section near the bulk goods.

Atherton Market carries locally-honey from Cloister (from the hives on top of the Ritz-Carlton uptown). They have plain varieties as well as a number of flavored honeys. Open Tues, Weds and Sat.

Make sure you buy honey that is produced within 30 miles, plus or minus, of where you live for the best results. From what I have read, the pollen the bees collect to make the honey is like getting an inoculation to mitigate allergy problems in a specific region.

The farmer's market on Yorkmont has honey, but I think it is from the NC mountain region for most sellers. They are open during the week, Tue-Sun.

There's a guy on new town road, in between Cuthbertson and Indian Waxhaw Trail that sells some. There's a sign that says Okra and Honey next to his mailbox.

The Honey Locator - from the National Honey Board

Here you go. I buy 60 pound buckets since I make meads and add it to some home brewed beers to give it an extra kick.

I usually buy mine in Pickens, SC; but there are a few up in Statesville I would like to check out. You could email them and ask where you can buy them locally.

Also, this is from a few months ago but Creative Loafing had an article exactly about this:
