We're really considering this while I-85 is still two lanes and has the smoothness of a cobblestone road from Concord Mills all the way out to Salisbury? Let's try bringing our existing roads up to snuff before taking on a project on the only stretch of highway in metro Charlotte that is modernized as it is...
As far as I know, they are still planning to expand 85. They are currently changing the traffic pattern near Concord Mills Blvd on both sides. North bound has been changed and it looks like southbound is close. I was hoping they wouldn't take 85 down to one lane during construction.

It's on the list. All you have to do is check the NCDOT website, then click for your county. NCDOT: Home
listen folks atlanta started this on 85 through gwinett an dekalb counties a few days ago its a nightmare i know im in atlanta every day im a truck driver. what they did is if you have 3 or more in the car you can use the what they call the h.o.t. lane or you can use a peachpass transponder and be charged different rates during peak and off peak traffic, it will ave. about 5 to 6 dollars one way during peak. well what this has now done is pushed i think i heard somewhere about 20000 extra cars in the others lanes during the day and 85 traffic sucked before now its worst. i went through there at 10 am on southbound 85 and it was like it was 8 am traffic. this is just another excuse for government to force a new tax on you.

You are not forced to use the lane so it's not a forced tax. You have an alternative.
No. DH takes the train in. He leaves at 6am anyway, so very little traffic is there. Even if he did drive all the way in, parking at his building is about $200/mo. The train pass is only $54 and includes free parking.
