I got a little spoiled in Southern Cal with the numerous Armenian/Turkish/Lebanese places. They were almost like Taco Bells. If you had a hankering for a shawarma sandwich and pickled beets, it was quick eats.
Real bike lanes and more sidewalks, not the white line separating a car from hitting a biker lanes they have now.
Larger billboards in the uptown area.
Larger grid street system (example: 1st, 2nd, 3rd...)
LESS OF! ghetto, vinyl, garage in the front, housing developments, with a huge brick sign at the entrance that says something like "White Oak Tree Housing", (Hello, that went out in the 90's)
Charlotte also needs an international media and political presence. I think that Gov Pat should incentivize one of the four television networks to relocate here from NY and the same holds true with the UN.
NBC News has a big operations center in Charlotte next to WCNC, and they coordinate many of their national and affiliate news feeds from there.
Wawa is great. They are in Virginia and now in Florida. But not sure if they would come to the Carolinas with QuikTrip already expanding here. But at least QT is also a very good store and they have recently expanded their fresh prepared food selection.
I agree on the Whataburger. They have great burgers, with the wide thin patties. Nearest locations are in Jacksonville, Fla. area and Brunswick, Ga. Now there is a similar local chain in Concord called What-A-Burger, but they are not affiliated. Nearest In-n-Out is in Texas, so not likely to come here. And they would likely put another Krystal in Charlotte rather than White Castle, which is mainly in the Midwest and Northeast. But they do overlap a bit in parts of Kentucky and perhaps Tennessee, so I suppose it could be possible. I am just glad to finally see Popeyes in Charlotte. Now I want to see a Roy Rogers and a Big Boy.

I know it isn't on the same level and this is sports related not politics or national news but Fox Sports, ACC sports, and ESPN also have really large operations here.
A cheese shop...I don't know if I mentioned this already in this thread, but I want a mini Formaggio kitchen like they have in Boston.
