Can anyone recommend an agency in the South Charlotte area that does home studies? Thanks

Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas
(919) 861-2805

They are based in Raleigh but had people in Charlotte to do home studies. They did ours about 4 years ago and did a lovely job.

We went through Mandala Adoption Services which is based in Chapel Hill area and they sent over a woman that lived in South Charlotte. It was very convenient.

Default Traveling...

Did you do international or domestic adoption?

That company is on my short list. Did you look into other companies? Their prices seem a little higher but look like they will work with you on some things.

We used Nathanson Adoption Services for our international adoption and were VERY pleased with them. Feel free to DM me with any questions.

We did international. That's all Mandala does. We were very please. They got us the home study very quick and wrote it exactly the way our placing agency wanted it. Yes, I looked at other companies and talked to several people who were not pleased with some of the ones mentioned in this thread- mainly due to time it took to get the homestudy written and any changes that needed to be made.

Default For those that did international adoption

if you don't mind me asking..what country did you chose and which adoption agency? There seems to be so many. I am already overwhelmed! We are looking into China adopton and I have heard great things about the Pearl S Buck foundation and Great Wall.

We adopted a little boy from China in '06. We used America World. It is a specifically Christian agency though.

They used their own home study social worker and we didn't have to find one.

We did Guatelmala but that program is on hold right now. Vietnam seems to be popular now.

We adopted from China in '06 and our placing agency was Faith International out of Tacoma, WA. We found them on a recommendation of a friend and could not have been more pleased. They were fantastic and, honestly, had the least invasive application/questionnaire of all the packages I received from other agencies. It was important for me to have someone who would take care of all the details for me vs. me getting everything notarized, etc.

Everyone's experiences are unique. We have many friends who have done IA with good and bad experiences with agencies listed in this thread as well as others that aren't. We did an expedited home study due to hub's being recalled for active duty and both agencies worked well with us in making sure everything was done correctly before he deployed. My best piece of advice is ASK QUESTIONS no matter how small, simple or silly you think they may be and get to know their staff. With China, be prepared for an extended wait...currently over two years.

Good luck...
