Charlotte is very devoid of vagrants. When I occasionally see a couple of them Uptown, and it's very rare, they are being roughed up by the multitude of short, angry police officers on segway, bike etc. Any attorneys here or others versed in the law that can give me a quick rundown on the ordinances in play here or at least the institutional culture that makes Charlotte the hostile-to-homeless city it is? Anyone ever try to challenge the enforcement of these ordinances?
Don't have an answer for you, don't live in Charlotte as of yet. I would like to Thank you for actually caring enough to post this. Now, if only there was a solution to people actually becoming homeless in the first place. Then the problem could be fixed.
Im done with this listless board. If you read my original post I wasnt interested in a discussion about police brutality. But of course go trumpet the police's horn, subvert my point, delete my comments and then ban me. Wow. ****ing Charlotte. adios.
Don't forget to send us an E postcard. Thanks for visiting!

Well, Barking made a good suggestion - write CMPD (or call them) if a homeless person was getting beaten up on. And Sunny also clarified - police do not wear brown here (so maybe it was a security person - wh/ definitely should be addressed - rent-a-cops w/ an agenda - not a good thing).
I posted a link to Charlotte's long range planning to help the homeless.
There are many orgs here to help those who are in need of assistance. Many of us volunteer for those organizations that help the homeless.
^^^ Yes, if there is something that is bothering you, do something to change it. As anifani says, get out and volunteer for an organization that is working to help those less fortunate.
