Thanks for reminding me of why I'm moving back to the south. This list of events is simply amazing! Wish I was there right now, but the move from Boston will take at least a month or two.
Can't wait to get there.

Question Hi Carolina Blue

I'm new to the area and found this website and your post regarding upcoming events.
Is there one website that gives a comprehensive listing of upcoming festivals, military re-enactments, gallery crawls, concerts, etc...for Mecklenburg and surrounding counties that you know of? I've been to several sites to date and only find small snippets of information. Apparently I haven't found the right site yet.
So far, you've given more information, along with my new purchase (The Insiders Guide to Charlotte) than any one website I've found so far.
Can you suggest any websites so I can search for future events?
Any help from you (or others) to help the new gal get acquainted with her adopted city will be appreciated.
Thank you!

Last edited by gizmobizmo; 09-05-2008 at 12:51 PM.. Reason: Your list was great! I just want to find out what's coming in farther down the road so I can make plans with visiting family.

I actually look at a "ga-zillion" websites to put those lists together. Not trying to toot my own horn, but you guys would probably be surprised how much effort I actually put into them. But with that said, yes, there are a few sites you could look at that would essentially give you all the info you need. I'd highly recommend "Charlotte Culture Guide" and "Creative Loafing".

I'd recommend any of the festivals in "bold"; and would especially suggest you visit them at night if you're looking to be around mostly adults. My personal favorite is the Culinary Arts event. Its like an upscale, high end version of The Taste of Charlotte. But if you don't like "fu-fu-shi-shi" type food, its probably not for you.
