Well the electric stove and oven that came with the house has put me and wife over the edge, so we want to have a gas range put in. Can anyone recommend a contractor in Huntersville/Charlotte area that can run gas line to behind stove? We do currently have gas to house (hot water heater and fireplace). Any recommendations/references from personal experience would be appreciated.
I don't know if this is the case now, but it used to be that if you called PNG, they would give you a list of recommended (or qualified - maybe that is the better word) contractors to put in gas lines. So I would try giving them a call and see if they have a list.

They don't do that anymore. I tried them several years ago when I wanted to do the same thing. (HATE electric stoves!) They could not give me any help at all.

Well that is the pits. So what is a person to do . . . just go thru/ the "yellow pages" looking for contractors/pipe ?
Personally, I could not find anyone to help me. So, I gave up.
Well, dern. See, I wanted a gas stove and gas run to my fireplace, as well. However, six years ago, it was gonna be expensive on top of other things that needed to be addressed immediately, so we decided not to go w/ this plan.
But I have been thinking about it lately and decided maybe I would like a gas lamp at the sidewalk as well as the gas line to the fireplace and one round the back to a grill. Also, thought I would plan ahead and make sure that we could tap into the line for a gas hot water heater when the time comes to replace the one we have now.
I had no idea it was gonna be a huge mystery to figure out how to find someone to do it.
We want to have a gas line put in to our fireplace. We went to a store called Hearth and Patio and they told us they could get us in touch with someone to put a line in. We too, put the job on hold last year but would like to do it soon. So maybe you can call them and get some names.
Also heard here on the forum at one time Clark's Gas Piping is very good.

I had my gas line put in by a company that services my heating and air conditioning system. They are licensed by the state to do gas lines. They have been great!
Here is there info: Penguin Air Cooling and Heating phone# 704-296-0600

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I actually did call PNG this am and they were very helpful, telling me they put in a request to have "someone" call me to arrange an appt for an estimate. Although I still have not heard from anyone (they said 24 - 48 hrs) I am going to give it a try thru them. If it falls thru, or I'm not liking the direction, I'll give some of the companies mentioned above a call.
