Not sure how much of a "secret" this is but I just found a great video store called VisArt near 7th & Pecan. They have a wide variety of stuff including:
Russ Meyer movies
Ed Wood movies
a large selection of Anime
grindhouse flicks
I am really looking forward to exploring it more. I need to see some more Luc Besson movies and they have a lot of them.
I'm sure I'll get shhhhhhushed for this one but I'm gonna say it anyway. Here it goes.......
Lake Tillery is so underrated and Lake Norman is so overrated (unless you're between 18 and 21.) I'm not.
There I said It.
www.golaketillery.com (http://www.golaketillery.com - broken link) Check out the great vineyards close by.

Ooohhhhh "Mondo Topless"?????
Enough of this palaver...let's get this show on the road.
Pho Daravan at the Asian Corner mall at Sugar Creek/Tryon. Sketchy area of town, and a sketchy little place, but the best pho, hands down, I've ever had. And at an average of $5 for a bowl the size of your head, it's definitely a bargain. Great bubble tea with fun flavors like papaya and taro too.
Same area, inside the mall is Hong Kong BBQ. We spent $150 to feed 50 people delicious, crispy-skinned, whole pig for a luau- beautifully dressed as well.
In Monroe and Indian Trail- Taqueria la Unica. Go to the one in Monroe- they give you free cheese dip with your meal. The food is to die for amazing, and the atmosphere isn't quite as campy as most Mexican restaurants. Grilled steak and chicken vs that ground up or shredded gunk. Gotta get the horchata while you're there...and make sure you ask for all the sauces and salsas they have to offer!
Rack 'em Pub and Billiards near the Sam's Club in Matthews is great too...always packed, cheap food, cheap beer, and great pool!
