The ones you sent me were in other areas than the area I was thinking (except one) and outside 'hwy 51.' Many were very old condos or near the Carolina Mall.
I think when looking at this information, you have to be very familiar with the locations.
Sheenie - that is what I was finding, too, by just looking on Zillow, wh/ I know is not the best resource. I found a few scattered out a very large area (from Quail Hollow to Providence Downs) but nothing much inside 51. There are always gonna be things outside 51. And finding a few foreclosures inside 51 is not unheard of, either. Anyone can lose a job and face foreclosure after a year or so.
KRISIA made a good point, too - on some of these McMansions, the problem could be w/ the second lien. You just never know til you start digging.
thanks for all the help so far everyone! Looks like South Charlotte is going to be incredibly hard to find what I'm wanting, so what other areas in Charlotte do ya'll suggest? How is area 1? is it pretty safe up there, seems to be a lot more affordable houses up there within my budget. If ya'll can think of any neighborhoods or areas I should be looking let me know! Again I'm looking to stay under $170,000 with a commute time to uptown of no more then 35-40 mins. Ohh it must be SAFE area.
I would strongly recommend the Raintree and Candlewyck suggestions. Good idea to always try to be on the low end of the neighborhood and those are both Great area's.
do ya'll think the commute from Huntersville would be to bad - like over 40 mins?
Traffic is much heavier going that direction but no, I don't think it would be more than 30 minutes, depending on where exactly in Huntersville. I will say though, staying in south Charlotte inside of hwy 51 will get you the best commute times with less aggravation.
