Diversity in this city does not belong to South Charlotte, but good schools do. But, I beleive, good schools are where good parents are...so my favorite is East Meck. Overcrowded, of course, but great teachers, Diverse as you know it.

Thanks to those who responded, anyone have any additional information on housing and neighborhoods that are in the 140,000 - 150,000 range. I have a 7 year old so schools are important, I've heard good things about Indian trail and union county. Can anyone tell me how the traffic to Charlotte would be?

If schools are your first priority, then you need to move to Fort Mill. I don't know exactly what you can find for that price range but I believe you can find something. Fort Mill is just south of the border, about 20 minutes from uptown Charlotte.

We are plenty diverse here. I was born and raised in the area and most of my friends are people that have relocated from all over the country.

Fort Mill definitely has a MUCH better school system than Char-Meck. Since I built a home and moved to Ft. Mill last year, I've noticed a HUGE difference in my son's academics and personality......

fort mill has a great school system but private schools in charlotte are great. in elizabeth (talk about DIVERSE neighborhood!) we have eliz. traditional school which is really progressive. charlotte friends school is slated for opening really soon.

In your price range the best part of town for you to get the best schools in is the Harrisburg or Huntersville areas. PM our regular poster Friendnc who lives up that way and can give you more specifics. Good luck
