Is Daley going to buy a team and move it here?

If not, it ain't going to happen.

While he may not be in office now or have as much power he still does have some. I also think that he could easily get Rahm on board.

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved plans for a downtown stadium on Friday.

Anschutz Entertainment Group, the developer of a $1.5 billion stadium plan, recently announced that it's for sale.

The stadium would seat 72,000 spectators and be adjacent to Staples Center.

AEG is seeking two NFL teams.

If AEG acquires a team in March, construction would begin immediately.
I don't see how LA can get two teams before Chicago.

How's this for a start -- Larger population. Better long term demographics.

I just don't see why that would matter.

Chicago's a better sports city. I don't even think they can handle a bad team in LA. So two teams shouldn't even be considered. I actually think even with all the Bears fans here, you could sell out a 2nd stadium here on Sundays.

Default Key is how stadium deal is structured...

Revenue from sales of EVERYTHING associated with the stadium can make a HUGE differnce in the overall INDIVIDUAL profitability of a team. Bears have a middling LEASE at Soldier Field and the rest of league gives them a huge amount of deference for the enormous amount of good TV revenue (which is pooled) the team generates, other teams that can actually generate revenues from alternative uses of the facility tend to be MUCH better off but that money is not pooled.

LA fans are fickle but the potential for lots of people to at least "sample" pro sports and be part of the HUGE social aspect of LA's monied entertainment driven economy means that NFL owners are LOTS more likely to again try to double up an LA franchise WAY BEFORE that hide bound club of best pals would do anything to go against what is literally one the founding familes of the whole league.

The unique ability of the NFL owners to protect one another and SELECTIVELY admit others to their presence while still holding municipalities to expensive builiding programs that sometimes are part of dramatic urban overhauls is really hard to duplicate.

I guess I can see what you're saying.

I just feel that if you're going to have LA with a 2nd team, Chicago should most definitely get one too. They'd obviously need a new stadium. But that also creates a few things for Chicago. One of which is a superbowl scenario. Other events could also be brought here that usually aren't because of Soldier's size. I really honestly think Chicago can support a 2nd team on the north side towards Evanston.

We could get the Cardinals back maybe. I think 2 teams would be fine here. New York has 2 teams and San Francisco has 2 teams.
