0.34% of of the 30,654 people living in Englewood are white. Punch it into your calculator again. This time put two zeros in front of the 34 instead of one. It's less than 1 percent not over 3 percent. 3 percent is worth mentioning. Less than one percent is just to be expected in any neighborhood in a city with over 6 million people.

30,654 X 0.0034 = 104.2236
You are right. I didn't use a calculator and wasn't thinking, that's the problem.

Not sure what number would be "to be expected" though.

a few blocks south of Hyde Park--around 63rd street or so. Crossing 61st street from Hyde Park to the area south of it is like going from a lush academic campus to a third world warzone

Englewood.

That's all I gotta say.
Don't go down there unless you are asking for a bullet through your head.

I've been through Englewood. The worst thing that happened was a guy tried to sell me bootlegged DVDs..but yeah. Not recommended to go through there much.

I should take a field trip to Engelwood. It sounds exotic.

Wait, I thought you said don't go unless you expect to be shot in the head. You went, and somehow you're still here to grace us with your ignorance?

One of the most disturbing things I used to see in Chicago was kids walking across the forlorn fields along Division and Larabee into the remnants of the Cabrini highrises, which were about 4/5 empty... no child should have had to live in such a place, I can't believe the city allowed it. It looked out of a f**king horror movie.
