$1200/month for a decent 1 bedroom? I disagree with that. I have friends in nice 1 bedrooms in areas like Ravenswood paying $950/month for it. The limit is about $900-$1000 for a decent one in my personal experience.

Even my 1 bedroom in the Gold Coast with a private doorman and gym barely costs over $1300 per month, and Gold Coast is one of the most expensive parts of town - moreso than Lincoln Park, Lakeview, etc.

Uh, Moscow is like 5+ degrees colder on average in the winter than Chicago. The winters in Chicago are overblown if you're from a climate that's just as cold if not colder than it. Visiting in the winter is meh. Come in the summer. Trust me. It's so nice out here right now...went out for lunch, ate outside. Quite a bit of good eye candy out.

In less-fancy (but still relatively safe) neighborhoods you can go down to $700-750 for a decent one bedroom. Some would say $550-600, though the ones I've seen in that range have not been up to the standard I would personally call "decent".
