Why crime went down in NYC and not Chicago? All I know is that they had a stop and frisk program which has been deemed bad now. They had massive redevelopment and are on an island so space runs out faster there than in Chicago. I think they put all the projects on Staten Island, which is physically separated. Property is more expensive there than in Chicago, so maybe it simply pushed into a different area.

I guess what I'm saying is Personone posed a good question....I just can't answer it because I don't know.
Many New Yorkers want the Stop and Frisk back. Wont happen as the mayor there is just as useless as the mayor here

I don't think I'd go that far. NYC has not few, if any "100 shooting, 20 murder" headlines in the several years. We have them every few weekends in the summer.

NYC has a loooooooooong way to go before it catches up to Chicago, so if it is slowly starting to become as bad as Chicago, it is must be REALLY SLOW.

But the way they talk it is out of control right now. They are actually getting worried that it will be like NYC of the 70s and 80s again! Nothing compared to Chicago that is true but many of them are getting very worried

We can start with his pre-presidential corruption: “The Donald” of the 1980s and 1990s was notorious for cheating contractors and workers, abusing his wives and other women, suing and defaming his critics, holding racist sentiments, and endless and shameless self-promoting.

Trump has since refused to apologize for his campaign against the Central Park Five despite the full exoneration of the falsely accused men.

Between 2005 and 2010, Trump ran Trump University, which was sued in two federal class actions based on allegations of defrauding its students with deceptive marketing and aggressive sales tactics.

Trump has profited from making the secret service pay for their rooms in his hotels (they have to have someplace to stay, but... he is personally pocketing the money from their expenses). A parade of foreign diplomats and domestic lobbyists to pay tribute with overnight stays that are functionally indistinguishable from bribes.

As president, he has handed over the levers of government to corporations in particular empowering the corporate representatives to oversee the companies they worked for. For example, he appointed Betsey Devos as education secretary because of her donations to Republicans. She gave a bunch of top jobs to people formerly employed by the likes of Career Education, Bridgepoint, and DeVry—for-profit college companies that had paid fines or made settlements over charges of deceptive marketing and inflated job-placement statistics. She and her team have treated that industry with remarkable solicitude, insisting that the defrauded former students of Corinthian and ITT go on making loan payments and maintaining the flow of federal funds to some of the smarmiest for-profit schools still on the scene.

There is so much more!

And of course Chicago's crime numbers are unacceptable, especially compared to peer cities (I couldn't care less about St. Louis or East St. Louis' numbers; the comparison needs to be with the New Yorks, LAs, and Bostons, which are miles ahead).

But all of this disingenuous OMG ANOTHER 100 SHOOTINGS posts are just reflective of our country's deplorables having access to a keyboard and internet connection. Those cancers don't really care; it's just another middle finger to normal people.
Not true. I think the bigger social culprit is the presence of WGN. I heard about Chicago murders living in Canada because of WGN. Our local news goes national, even international, because of our media prominence.

You lost me here. I saw this dude on the Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, Home Alone, Wu Tang album, etc. Mod cut. Racist sentiments - be specific? Abusing wives and other women? Endless shaming and self-promoting? I want specifics - not your garbage hateful emotion. This is Hillary gassing you up - you want to hate so you choose too - I can hate also, careful.

BTW - to the people that think you cannot do prison time for marijuana - https://parler.com/profile/lukewiese/posts. You most certainly can...especially in the past - our laws are becoming more lax but my issue isn't that, it is all drugs. The drug war is a failure - plain and simple and the black community suffers from it most.

Trump's racism

https://www.vox.com/2016/7/25/122708...racism-history

Quote:
1973: The US Department of Justice — under the Nixon administration, out of all administrations — sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to Black tenants and lied to Black applicants about whether apartments were available

1980s: Kip Brown, a former employee at Trump’s Castle, accused another one of Trump’s businesses of discrimination. “When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor,” Brown said. “It was the eighties, I was a teenager, but I remember it: They put us all in the back.”

1988: In a commencement speech at Lehigh University, Trump spent much of his speech accusing countries like Japan of “stripping the United States of economic dignity.” This matches much of his current rhetoric on China.

1989: In a controversial case that’s been characterized as a modern-day lynching, four Black teenagers and one Latino teenager — the “Central Park Five” — were accused of attacking and raping a jogger in New York City. Trump immediately took charge in the case, running an ad in local papers demanding, “BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. BRING BACK OUR POLICE!” The teens’ convictions were later vacated after they spent seven to 13 years in prison, and the city paid $41 million in a settlement to the teens. But Trump in October 2016 said he still believes they’re guilty, despite the DNA evidence to the contrary. (He doesn't believe in Science)

1991: A book by John O’Donnell, former president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, quoted Trump’s criticism of a Black accountant: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.” Trump later said in a 1997 Playboy interview that “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true.”

Stiffing his contractors?

Quote:
Two Washington-area small businesses have filed liens on the Trump International Hotel, saying they have not been compensated for their work completing the 263-room project the president-elect routinely heralds as having finished under budget and ahead of schedule.

One firm, Joseph J. Magnolia Inc., is a private, family-owned plumbing firm with offices in Northeast D.C. and suburban Maryland that claims it is out $2.98 million. According to a mechanic’s lien the company filed four days before Christmas, Magnolia worked on the Trump hotel for more than two years, from September of 2014 to December of 2016.

Magnolia “completed all plumbing, mechanical and HVAC work, along with site sewer, water, storm and water services” on the project, according to its filing with the D.C. government. The company said it provided labor and materials for the work and named Trump’s D.C. hotel company, Trump Old Post Office LLC, and construction manager Lendlease US among the responsible parties.
10 people who say Trump shortchanged them.

1. Architect Andrew Tesoro.

2. Cabinet-maker Edward Friel Jr. (He was ultimately forced to fold the company, founded by his own father, and filed for bankruptcy in 1989.)

3. Paint store owner Juan Carlos Enriquez. (After two years of nonpayment on a $30,000 bill, the proprietor of the Paint Spot sued for work completed on the Trump National Doral Miami golf club.)

4. Dishwasher Guy Dorcinvil.

5. The USA Freedom Kids, a trio of three little girls who performed at a Trump rally in Pensacola, Florida, singing a song filled with “U-S-A!”

6. Two hundred undocumented Polish workers.

7. Nearly everyone involved in the construction of Taj Mahal Casino.

8. Many banks and other financial institutions, including Bank of China.

9. The very lawyers who protect him from having to pay anyone.

10. Trump's campaign staff.
