Absolutely, I agree entirely. (For those who don't know what we're talking about, check out ABOUT THE GRAY LINE CONVERSION)

This project could be completed pretty immediately since all the infrastructure is in place already. It would just require a degree of cooperation between CTA and Metra which is apparently beyond their abilities.

Kreusi had something to do with it, but if you read the book Chicago Transit, it pretty much says that everything's been mishandled since the good ol' days of Yerkes.

The Circle Line should be the last to be built. Its importance is greatly overestimated. I agree we do need the Crosstown train line first. The Crosstown expressway would be nice too, but that will be really difficult to get done.

If any of these new lines (not the extensions of existing lines) get built before I retire, I'll be extremely surprised.

Well, I'm in my thirties, so we've got a fair bit of time to lay some new tracks.

You are correct. It has been going on since most of us on this forum were born (and even before our parents were born too.) Ever since I started reading newspapers when I was 6 I have known funds have been diverted from the repair budget.
