I love heading to Wolfy's on Peterson ave and California for gyros. much better than Hub's restaurant on 5540 North Lincoln Avenue.

The new joint Nick's on North at North ave and Spaulding makes a good gyro. Their burger's are pretty good as well, but steer clear of the chicken wings, they are unimpressive.

When we're talking about gyros from a greasy-spoon burger/dog joint, is there really that much of a difference? As far as I can tell, they all use the same Kronos-sourced pre-fab meat cones. Not that that's a bad thing since that stuff is mesmerizingly delicious...

There can be a huge difference.
There is more than one company that makes cones.
Some places finish the cooking off on the grill which makes the Gyros really greasy. Some people like this, others do not.
Not all places use the same yogurt sauce either.

It's true most of these are kronos. I would hope that Central Gyros makes there own. But as far I remember a place in Brooklyn definitely made their own.
