I believe the world is billions of years because science has proven this to me. Whether or not you believe 6000 or 6 billion does not change my respect for you or your opinion and doubt it will change Gods love and mercy for either one of us.

Do you believe in a 6000 year old Earth and What is Your Religion?
Yes, I am fairly certain that the earth is at least 6000 years old, AND, I am a practicing and devout Atheist.
I believe that time started with the creation of man...
Psalm 90:10 The days of our years are threescore and ten (70 or 7 thousand years or 7 days of creation per Genesis 2:2); and if by reason of strength they be fourscore (80 or 8 thousands years or the "new beginning, the 8th day.)
Surely, it is obvious that this passage is not an inference to the actual age of man, since Moses lived to be an hundred and twenty before his rest, while most of the recorded ages of the patriarchs in the OT per Genesis 5 surpassed Moses' by leaps and bounds....
But the earth is way much older than mankind!
Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Religion? None...but share the belief of a merciful Creator...
No, but it could be I guess, scientists aren't always right. However I tend to think it's older than 6000 years, not that it really matters. ETA: I definitely think He COULD do it in 6 days, just not certain He did, and positive that it doesn't matter one way or the other. LOL.
Yes, I believe in YEC ... an ~ 6,000 year old earth created by God. I am of the Baptist persuasion, but truly am a bible-believing Christ follower.
I do not believe the bible allows for millions of years, anywhere. Gap theory is a stretch, as are the other compromises, IMO. I will say this, whatever one's position regarding the creation happens to be, it does not have a direct impact upon one's salvation. Salvation is in Christ alone.
I have arrived at my belief in YEC after much intense study from both sides of the argument. Jesus won.
I could provide much, much more information as to why I believe what I believe, but do not wish to overwhelm your thread. Anyone can find my position on the subject if you search my previous posts.
Blessings to all.
