A time for everything. Who is the author of Ecclesiastes ? Whose time is it ? Do we have control over time. What would you say is the overall theme to the Book of Ecclesiastes and why ?

It was written by Soloman. Timing is important. The secret peace with God is to discover, accept and appreciate God's perfect timing. The overall theme I believe is people are searching, they more they try to get the more they realize how little they really have. Above everything we should strive to know and love God, He gives wisdom, knowledge and joy.

Default Solomon's wisdom...

Yes, I would say that the overall theme of it that Solomon has examined everything and pursued everything life has to offer and finally comes to the conclusion that there ultimately is not satisfaction in any of it apart from knowing and serving God.

Written by Solomon. The book is basically his diary of his crisis of faith. A great book, but you have to read it in context.

Great description of the book of Ecclesiates.

I also think we, today, can learn that from this book...most of us have been in a place in our lives where we question the meaning of life. If only we had spent more time in Ecclesiastes, we may have realized early on that without God, our lives are empty. He is what we search for and are unfulfilled until He fills our hearts with His love and His ways.

I think, rather than our being in control of the "time", it's in God's time. We just need to listen to him more carefully.
