RESPONSE:
My "intention" is to recount the facts of history with evidence as opposed to religious folklore. Many people have great difficulty adjusting their belief system to the facts of history.
As Ken Follett described the role of the historian:
"The uraveling of mysteries,
The discovery of faint clues,
The resolution of contradictions,
The unmasking of lies, propaganda, and myth."
