I've recently encountered somebody that asked me this question, and although I think I know the answer, I would like to see what everybody thinks...
I know alot of people who live life without really acknowledging God. They certainly don't deny that there is a God, and they certainly don't acknowledge the presence of God. The concept of God just really isn't a part of their everyday lives. Now let's say they say they believe in God, but never do anything (such as pray, go to church..etc) to show that.
Ultimately, what is the end result of these people? I know it comes down to between "you and God" but I am just interested to see what feedback you have to offer.
Well, believing God exists doesn't really mean anything. It should be something we should know or not know. The thing that matters is do we trust Him, if He does exist. Of course this is the christian perspective of God.

Thanks!
They need to apply John 17:3. As do those who only know Jesus.
Only God knows. And for anyone to say differently, then they are assuming they know the authority of God. No matter how much scripture they want to quote. It comes down to a simple answer. God decides.

God os a mystery. No one knows the truth. Some think they do by quoting the bible, but in reality the bible is just a book.
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Only God knows. And for anyone to say differently, then they are assuming they know the authority of God. No matter how much scripture they want to quote. It comes down to a simple answer. God decides.
I would tell him that it is not a matter of believing in a god, but of how the person lives their lives as a part of that awareness. To some extent it matters what a person believes about that god: is that god concerned about the well-being of creation and of humanity as a whole? Are we supposed to emulate that concern?

I don't know the end result of anyone, but I will quote some scripture at you.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God."
According to this passage, it doesn't matter if someone prays or goes to church or acknowledges the existence of God. If they love, then they they know God.
