According to scripture it is if it's been strangled.
I was wondering about that. I have seen people twist the neck of chickens. Dad liked to shoot their heads off and another way my parents used on the farm was to take an ax and behead the chicken. They throw blood everywhere.
It's because the blood is in the animal if it's been strangled. The prohibition is against eating blood. Peace
Strangely most meatworks I have been too (I work in the industry in a regulatory role) have a Halal or Muslim slaughterman, which demands that the animals or poultry etc, are bled out effectively for that particular market.
This would mean they are ok for those who have a thing about blood, including JW's etc.
Of course pork is still a big no-no for Muslims, and pigs cannot be slaughtered anywhere near other animals.

Even if it's not Halal...that's just good practice. When I slaughter a hog I always hang it overnight before butchering. As for the no pork thing...I can only sympathize...it must be rough never being able to eat bacon.
Acts 15:
You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell. You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals
