No one can keep the Law in full once placed outside God's realm (i.e., ever since Adam). We are currently in a realm referred as the wilderness full of wolves, while Satan is said to be the god of this world. We can never keep God's Law in full (don't get me wrong, I am not talking about Mosaic Law) in this situation.
All covenants (since Noah) are a mixture of "Law" and Grace. The "Law" here is not equivalent to God's Law in full, but a chosen set of laws (such as Mosaic Law) combining with God's Grace. That is to say, humans can never abide by God's Law in full, however they can be up to a standard defined by a certain set of chosen laws. If they have tried their best to observe such a set of laws (such as Mosaic Law), they will thus be saved through God's Grace bound by the same covenant to which the set of laws is attached (such as the covenant given to Jews through Moses with Mosaic Law attached).*
Observing only such a set of chosen laws is good enough to be saved because in the end Jesus will achieve something for God's Grace to be a legitimate agent of human salvation. That is to say, we don't need to (and we can't) obey God's Law in full in order to be saved because we have Jesus Christ.
Now how about those humans before Noah, do they have a covenant for protection. Yes, they have the same covenant as Christians nowadays have. It's the New Covenant brought and preached by Jesus Himself to them during the 3 days spent in Hades.
as a side note:
The New Covenant is a permanent covenant with no such a set of laws attached. This New Covenant is said to be with 100% Grace and 0% Law. It is so because,
Romans 5:20 (NIV)
The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
Now God's Grace has been increased to its maximum - 100%.
Still, it by no means says that you don't need to obey any Law. It only says that you won't be judged by any set of laws on the Judgment Day. As a Jew, you still need to observe the Mosaic Law, as a gentile you still need to obey the moral code as the law written in your heart. Since you are not expected to observe them perfectly (that's why the New Covenant), the priority is being guided by Christ's teachings (as only this will secure your salvation).
God provided the answer in His son, Jesus Christ - that's the point of this thread. If you will either respect scripture as the authority on the subject or refrain from baiting, we could move on.
Instead of sitting in a corner and throwing little questions out at everyone, step out into the light and declare what you believe.
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Yea, let's take the whole verse...
6In his days, Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell safely, and this is his name that he shall be called, The Lord is our righteousness.
(יְהֹוָה | צִדְקֵנוּ) Y'hohahTzidekanu, Which is his name...
In the TaNaKh it says, "This is the name people will call him: HaShem is our righteousness, now this is the meaning of the name above...
And to add, notice it is just for Judah and Israel...Not the whole world...
LE I believe he is pointing out to you that Israel is my firstborn son.
