Only some? See this is why we post. Someone has to throw off the facade of this fiction world you pretend really exists here. Like claiming most Christians are perfectly fine with homosexuality. The vast majority of Christian denominations including Catholics do not support homosexuality.
Also, if most people have progressed and are perfectly fine with same sex relationships then why are the hate crimes against gay people on the rise?
“Unfortunately, it’s not only LGBTQ identities caught up in an epidemic of violence. Bias-motivated crimes based on race, religion, disability and gender all increased. The FBI reported that anti-Black hate crimes increased by 16 percent, from 1,739 incidents in 2016 to 2,013 incidents in 2017. Hate crimes targeting Black people represented 28 percent of all reported hate crimes in 2017. Every other racial and ethnic group also saw increases in the number of reported hate crimes in 2017.
Additionally, hate crimes motivated by anti-religious bias increased 23 percent, largely driven by a 37 percent increase in anti-Jewish hate crimes, which constituted the majority of religion motivated hate crimes. Hate crimes motivated by bias against people with disabilities increased by a disturbing 66 percent and hate crimes motivated by gender bias increased by 48 percent.”

Maybe it has something to do with hatful bigoted fundamentalist who could kill gay people knowing they will get a free pass into heaven for killing their god’s abominations?
You’re a once saved always save fundie aren’t you jeffbase?
A born again believer would have no desire to kill or hurt anyone and would be violating God's directive to love one another. Your argument continues to be an epic fail.
actually, i spent over 12 hours this last week, going through each and every one of them and saved the name, post# and the comment. for the sake of space though, i listed just the name and the post#
most of the questionable comments range from calling someone stupid, ignorant, less-educated, bigoted, a liar, a hypocrite and a lowlife. some, however, were much worse such as bovine excrement, fraud, and latent homosexual to name a few.
in an earlier post by Mightyqueen801 #5306; she wrote: “Excuse me, but someone on a message board acting like a rude, obnoxious jerk to a conservative Christian--and yes, some do--is not in any way, shape or form, comparable to being rejected, dismissed, disparaged or actually harmed because you were born a certain way as the LGBTQ people are.
As far as someone saying they are here to specifically make fun of and attack Christians, so what? So what? What the heck do you care? What difference does it make? Look to see if there is any value in their anger, anything that you might want to think about, and if not, ignore. Dismiss. Move on.
If someone accuses another of being gay, well, isn't that fifth-grade playground stuff? I have made the statement in this thread that nobody knows what anybody's else's private sexual thoughts and feelings are unless they themselves so state it, so it's just silly to say things like that as if it's an accusation. "You're really gay" is not a personal attack any more than "you're really not blonde".
A person truly struggling with their own identity deserves compassion and patience. In our society, they don't always get those things.
Again, it is not you who is suffering."
the problem is that this is supposed to be a "Christian" thread and after going through all of these posts, this thread has pretty much nothing to do with the spirit of Christianity and is more about attacking others. i found myself appalled and disgusted at the level of acrimony and outright hostility toward one another. this entire thread is a fraud in my opinion.
so, here are the lists i made beginning with the Fundamentalists and their comments:
you are more than welcome to fact check my list here. as i said, most of the comments are what we would consider non-flammatory, so to speak, but there are some which are most assuredly hostile and unwarranted.
btw, Trout, you and Warden set the pace and i was surprised because Warden came in with 54 and you came in with 49. seems you have some catching up to do.
be that as it may, i must give a tip of the hat to the progressives here who were civil and made their point without resorting to insults. so those i commend: mightyqueen801; pleroo, geekigurl, pcamps and romulus and for the most part, mensaguy. to the fundamentalists, stay civil and keep a level head. i hold no ill will nor do i hold a grudge toward anyone here for things said to me.
to be honest though, some of what i have read in these posts greatly concerns me because of the hostility towards others. my big mistake was coming back to check in to see how things were going. no big surprise there. i'm not making it again. so consider this my parting gift to you all and i certainly hope and pray that this thread will be laid to rest very soon, for the sake of everyone. my hope is that if we learn anything from this thread is that we have a lot of work to do and that goes for both sides. i just cannot imagine that our Lord Jesus would be very happy at all to see what is being said to one another within the confines of this thread.
now, if you'll excuse me, i bid you adieu and blessings....
Wow, it's pretty clear who is flinging the most mud on here. For the record, WARDENDRESDEN was so toxic in in my interactions with him that he remains on my block list. I will never speak to him again unless he offers a public apology for telling me to go burn in hell. It's not about if I am personally offended or not. It's about being an example of a Christ follower.

Its a online forum, people will hurl insults when they are backed into a wall, especially when it comes to faith, as it seems you are judging their moral character or that you point out their wrongs, when you know you are right and they have nothing else to say. It seems everyone grows a pair behind a keyboard, but would never come at you in real life like that. Some in here might say stuff to me that is extremely rude in this section, but in the sports section or others sections can discus sports or other topics with civility, so it is what it is.
She said it was only "some" Christians that opposed homosexuality. That indicates a small minority to me. That's not true.
I think that's an assumption on your part. I actually do not know the percentages of Christians who do not accept homosexuals, and obviously those swaths of this country still in the grip of fundamentalism are not a small minority. However, many Christians have indeed moved beyond the strictures and worldview of ancient Middle Eastern culture and embraced the simple modern knowledge that some folks are born with an attraction to the same sex and that others seem to have a glitch that put the mind of one gender into the body of the other.
How long has it been since Christians believed people with mental illnesses to be demon-possessed? Some still do, I realize, but even most fundamentalists today understand and accept the knowledge that the brain can be affected by sickness that has nothing to do with evil spirits.
Eventually, this will happen with LGBT issues, as well.
Meanwhile, it astonishes and saddens some of us that others can sit on this forum and dispassionately read the account of someone who tried to hang herself with a belt at the age of ten because who she was didn't match up with the Bible, and express no compassion toward that child, only a complaint that THEY are being picked on.

It is hard to find any merit in the carnal-minded and sin-focused attitude of those you describe here, MQ. The truly frustrating thing is that they actually consider themselves good, decent, righteous, and loving despite this glaring lack of it toward those they believe are sinning.
Why can't the christians let the homosexuals be homosexuals and concentrate on what they claim to be?. If Jesus is really so wonderful to you then let it be so and leave the homosexuals alone.

But it's the only "sin" most of the fundies don't commit, dammit!!
Therefore, they can point their ever-so righteous fingers at loathsome abominations like - oh, Elton John and geekigurl - and say: "There, by the grace of god, goes a worse sinner than me."
They only fool their fellow fools. The rest of us see through their hypocrisy.
But I'm very glad for this thread because it lured them out of hiding. By their words shall ye know them.
