Being "nice to people, feed, clothe them" is PREACHING THE GOSPEL...WHEN WE FAIL AT THIS we FAIL AT BEINGS AN EXAMPLE...
I relate to your frustration. The fundies, like Vizio, think the great commission is to spread ther specific beliefs about Jesus and God. It is NOT. It is to spread the Good News that Jesus has reconciled us to God and God is not counting our sins against us. All we need to do is believe Jesus and follow His instructions to love God and each other every day and repent when we don't. That's it. That is the Good News.

FAIL! We "enter" the kingdom of God because LOVE is the KEY that opens the doors to the mansion where there are MANY rooms. The Lord does not build such a paradise for a FEW, but He intended for MANY to be in His presence. He said Himself he has NO NAME, that He is WHO HE IS, the I AM what the people need.
There is no one image, description or NAME by which we are forgiven--there is however ONLY ONE WAY to have that "forgiveness"--LOVE.
Without that, we are NOTHING. LOVE is the basis for everything---

You likely cannot solve the world's problems yourself.
But you can help your area, and doing so causes a ripple effect.
If a company promises to donate money (hopefully more than Amazon's 0.5%) to a charity, go for it. Or better yet, donate yourself.
Help a food bank, carol for Christmas, Toms shoes has a One for One shoe promise, and maybe check out a "buy a heifer" gift for Christmas. These are small things. But if someone didn't do them, they would get done. Even if you don't do them often, who knows, it may start a trend.
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
If we look closely at Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, the lowest basic part of the pyramid is a level which sadly many people lack. It is not possible to ascend the higher points of the pyramid unless the foundations are strong.
In this case, if a person lacks security at the first two levels, then forget moving on.
(Most religious fundies never move past stage 3 anyway)
It is important that we help those who are less fortunate. To the person who has only rags to wear, share with him some newer clothes. TO the person who lacks self esteem, help him to discover it. To those who lack respect for themselves and others, help steer them out of their situation.
But if a person is going to bed hungry every night, then at that very point, self esteem will not be improved.
