I was quoting Song of Solomon with the "strong as death" quote... Yes Love is indeed stronger as it is mentioned as being the greatest of all things within Corinthians.

Good points. Regarding this statement, true love in our hearts may convict those that ridicule us, but should never cause offense. There is a difference. (It might be a good idea for a new thread.. not sure if I have the inspiration or time for it right now!)

Well it can cause offense - but allows one to be slow to take offense...

We aren't robots or stones. We do indeed have feelings, as does our creator.

It shouldn't. Maybe this is too strong a statement, but if it causes offense to others, it's probably mixed with something else.

No one will be able to honestly take offense at true love.

Oh I thought you were talking about True Love does not take offense..not whether or not it causes offense. Perhaps the better wording is that when you Love someone, when you truly Love someone and when they Love you - you don't take offense quickly to what they say, as you know that what is said is not meant for the purpose of offending you.

In Christ,

Stephen

I edited your post by taking out "and when they Love you" and "as you know that what is said is not meant for the purpose of offending you."

True love loves even when they don't love you, and even when you know they are trying to offend you.

Isn't this how Jesus loves? And if we truly love Him, won't we love this way too?

Too often we think of love as a two-way street.

Yup. We do our best. That type of love takes much prayer and fasting.

It takes time for that type of Love. It takes God for that type of Love, it's not instantaneous, one has to be truly of God to have it. I don't think any of us can claim to have Love like Christ in this life. I know that right now in my life I don't have it, but I pray that eventually some day God will allow me to partake in him with it in this lifetime.

In Christ,

Stephen

We all could do a lot better. It takes work on everyone's part, not just one or two individuals. People need to stop worrying about what they can do, and start thinking about what God has already done. Our focus needs to be more on God, not ourselves. When we put our focus on him, then we will have a greater understanding of how to Love like him.

I hear that phrase quite often in the Christian community. If you could please indulge my curiosity, what exactly does that mean to you?

godspeed,

freedom
