Satan has earned the right to exist by legal means, even though he did it by means of a lie!
When Adam disobeyed God in the Garden and believed Satan, that very moment Satan became the legal owner of mans soul!
Man is no longer born the sons of God, they are born the sons of Satan until the rebirth!
It was intended for man to be born in the image of God, but when he sinned and sin was passed down to all men by legal means, man became born in the image of Adam, the sinner.
This is why "man must be born again" into the family of God to be released from the bondage of Satan!
Every believer that calls on the name of Jesus Christ should have a burden for those in that bondage. We should be spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these poor souls the truth they need to be set free!
The scripture tells us that the gate is narrow and few there be that find it, most will not make it.
But that is no reason to give up spreading the truth of God's salvation! He didn't give up on us and we should not give up on our fellow man in God's plan.
Satan lives under the control of God's limitations. As the great liar and deceiver, his primary freedoms are to lie, deceive and accuse. He does not have the freedom to 'force' people to do anything against their free will. Instead, he fills-in the "spaces" where people refuse to love, trust and obey God. IOW, Satan does not force people to do evil, wicked, horrendous things - but, given enough lies and deception, that's where Godlessness leads.
By the same token, God does not force people to love, trust and obey Him. God could have created robots or more angels, but that would contradict His purpose for creating mankind for fellowship.
The point of having both righteousness and evil available in the world is so that people can see and must choose grace over justice, good over bad and freedom over bondage. These choices comprise free will. Earth was created for man, since evil cannot exist in God's presence. This is how it has worked, even from the beginning in the Garden of Eden; but Satan is a defeated enemy and even he knows his time is short.

If G-d wiped out Satan then He’d be wiping out mankind...

This view seems problematic to me, as it seems to place Satan on the same level as God.
It also seems to imply that man is no longer made in the Image of God. That view would have deeply problematic implications.

Seems to me that if God really wanted man to have "free will" in the Garden he could have done it without Satan being involved (or the serpent if you don't believe Satan was the serpent).
Having Satan in the garden seems to be setting mankind up for failure. God could have at least told them that the Serpent was up to no good despite all the other animals being nice and friendly at the time.
