strict adherence to the basic principles of any subject or discipline. An unwavering attachment to a set of irreducible beliefs.
In other words, a firm belief that the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God. And our faith and belief in Jesus our Lord, we have hope for eternal life
In other words---EVERYONE must believe like a fundamentalist or face discrimination and oppression from the church and life in FEAR of eternal damnation if god is questioned...
Evangelicals are great neighbors, so long as they keep their god in their bedroom.

So, it really comes down to lust as the reason. It usually does.
When I use the word fundamentalist, I am speaking of a person who is rigidly dogmatic to the point of being unable to learn anything. This is not limited to Christians. There are fundamentalists in every type of religion. Some might just call it Orthodox When a person thinks he already knows or has all the truth, s/he is unteachable.
BTW, I noticed someone in this thread said that liberals reject the bible completely. Of course this is not true, but apparently it's okay to continue lying even after having been corrected many times. "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor" - remember that?
Since the Bible makes no such claim for itself and claims that Jesus is the Word of God, where does this firm belief about the Bible come from? This makes sense but it does NOT follow from the unwarranted claim about the Bible which just tells us about Jesus.

what part of this definition is confusing?
Nothing is confusing, but the source of your faith that the Bible is 100% true and infallible must be based on someone or something or did it just come to you in a dream?

Ok, I understand. I don’t think you can have 100% faith in anything. That percentage crosses over to knowing.
I was 37 before becoming a believer. I had Childlike faith in the beginning. The study of apologetics later confirmed my trust.
Anyone who is honest about who they are and pray humble prayers to the Lord I do believe that He will, in His time, reveal Himself enough to have a solid firm belief.

I have often noticed that and tried to to discuss and correct that misconception, but to no avail. I suspect that the sort of either/or black/white thinking that is inherent in fundamentalism makes it hard for such adherents to understand that others may not think the same way.
It kind of ends any communication when someone insists that since I am not a Bible literalist/inerrancy believer, I therefore reject all scripture as worthless. It doesn't work that way.

But you are saying that your faith is based on the bible being 100% perfect whereas we are told to put our trust in the spirit of God which is in Christ.
