....Specifically, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and love one another as I have loved you. What if Jesus really meant that? What if he really meant whatsoever you do, to the least of your brothers, that you do unto me?....And turn the other cheek.
Amen! Joy!! Truly - He AND The Father come, NOW, to those who Love (Him/All) and Do what He says!
It IS worth letting go of Everything for! He even showed us how. Trust in Him!
The Rich and the Kingdom of God 17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[d]”
20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”
24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[e] to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
I think this correlates with the blessedness of those who are poor in spirit:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The poor in spirit do not think they have all the right answers to everything - they are teachable, open to the Holy Spirit to teach them, not being spoon fed by men who desire to be teachers. And concerning riches -- there are plenty of places in the New Testament that tell us not to set our heart on earthly riches, so that is already made clear.
Made Alive in Christ
1As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Poor in spirit=humble, and it begins by admitting you need a savior.

Actually, it's when you drop the arrogance and pride of this "us" and "them" mentality.
It has absolutely nothing to do with conformity and control to a particular belief system.

No one said anything about any belief system, or "us and them" but thanks for sharing.
