Despite growing up in an Evangelical church, I was not aware that at the tower of Babel, God "disinherited" the nations and turned them over to "the sons of God" to be ruled over. In Sunday school, we only ever learned about the language confusion.

Though I was aware of demons/angels/Satan (vaguely) I did not know about these "sons of Gods" who turn out to be other "gods" who were designated by God to rule over the nations.

The fact that there are other (created) "gods" is kind of a shocker, actually. And the fact that they have all gone rogue and corrupted the nations along with them, is quite disturbing.

So now my question is, are these "gods" STILL in charge of the nations? If so, that sure explains the destructive evil that those in power seem to wield over their populations.

Related to that question: are these "gods" the gods of myth and legends throughout the ages? Zeus and all of those from ancient times?

Jehovah confused the languages of the people who were building the tower, as time was progressing too rapidly, no doubt man would have extincted themselves before the appointed time, at least that is my thoughts on why He did it.

satan has been the ruler of this world, with all the governments in his hands since they were established. We see that by his offering Jesus all the kingdoms of the world to reject Jehovah and worship him instead. Mat 4:8,9

Yes, we learned that growing up. For some reason, I internalized that "rulers of the nations" as kind of abstract, as in they "influence" the nations, not actually control them like a physical ruler.

I somehow thought these small-case "gods" were not real, but just mythology with stone and wood statues, not actual spiritual beings.

Quite the eye-opener to realize otherwise....
