The main issue with hearsay evidence is that the statement's reliability cannot be proved or disproved through cross-examination because the person they overheard is not present...................
To me the written down old Hebrew Scriptures are Not hearsay because Jesus often prefaced his statements with the words, "It is written......" meaning already recorded in the old Hebrew Scriptures.
Even by age 12 Jesus was already well educated in the old Hebrew Scriptures to the point that he could reason on them.
In Scripture one can cross examine because the Bible is full of corresponding cross-reference or parallel verses and passages that paint a clear picture by subject or topic arrangement for us.

The main issue with hearsay evidence is that the statement's reliability cannot be proved or disproved through cross-examination because the person they overheard is not present. Therefore, it is not proof or actually evidence to the truth of what a person may have asserted. And I don't believe anyone can say so with 100% certainty, when it comes to hearsay. Now, if he had written something himself, that would be a documented statement. Especially, if he put his mark (signature) on it. Many of the author's of the Scriptures or what was written are also disputable.

You have heard it said (written or spoken) ...but I say ...which does not mean he was in agreement.
