It reminds me of this, and today I can't get it out of my head:

YouTube - REM End Of The World As We Know It (And I feel Fine).

As strange and secular as this song is, the fast, unintelligible words are symbolic to me of how the world is right now.

It's the end of the world as we know it, but I feel fine....cause I trust God.

The scripture that you cited is past tense. Before we had Christ in our hearts, we were sinners; but, once we are washed by the blood of Jesus, we are finished with all sin because it's of the devil. Read the rest of 1 John and he says that whosoever commits sin is of the devil. If you are sinning, then you are not saved. That is the Word of God. Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of sin. If you continue to sin, you are still in the devil's bondage.

(1 John 2:3-4) "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

How can you sin and keep Jesus' commandments at the same time? How can one be a sinner and a Saint at the same time? How can one commit sin and be righteous at the same time? You are either holy or unholy.

(1 John 3 5-8) "And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
I would like to ask YOU a personal question? You do not have to respond on this thread if you are uncomfortable doing so........Since you have become a Christian and accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour... Have you committed any sin whatsoever whether in thought or deed.......I think that all believers will struggle against the flesh until the day they die but the Holy Spirit will convict them of their sins causing them to confess.......Sanctification is a process which every Christian goes through, I am NOT promoting licentiousness to sin.......Even the apostle Paul said he struggled with sin....READ ROMANS 7:14-25.......obviously no one is able to keep the Law perfectly.....even though we should try VERY HARD TO KEEP THE LAW and turn from our sins......We need the forgivenss and mercy of God for salvation.......Make no mistake about it the LAW must be kept....but NO man can keep it "perfectly" only the Saviour did that.......God will settle for nothing less........This is why Jesus told the apostles that humanly speaking NO ONE can be saved, but with God all things are possible............If YOU have not sinned at all since being born again.... PRAISE BE TO GOD ONLY......because it is he who instills his Holy Spirit to accomplish this in you for his good pleasure.......for those of us who are not yet perfected...... God promises to complete the good work he started in us "he will be faithful to complete it"................... to guide us and keep us and cover us in the righteous blood of Jesus Christ.

There is just no reasoning with thinking like this. Here's a link for ya.....please read and understand.

Rapture Ready - your prophecy resource for the end times

And btw, we all still sin. Are you also trying to tell me that neither one of you ever commits any sin?? Never get angry, never "accidentally" look at porn, secretly sip whiskey, smoke cigarettes or pot, abuse prescription drugs or illegal drugs, severely dislike your neighbors or in-laws, masturbate (ha, yes that qualifies as sin) covet, get jealous, curse at other drivers, shoot the bird, make faces behind someone's back, gossip, or LIE??????? Yeah, right.

What's the scenery like up there on that pedestal/soap box??? Hmmmm......I wonder if "holier than thou" thinking is a sin???

I sin. I don't sin near as much as I used to because Christ rules my life now, but sin is sin. No one sin is greater than another, right? We are to strive for Christ's perfection, fight the good fight and ask for forgiveness when we mess up. REPENT.

Are you also saying that you never ask for forgiveness and repent for the sins that you DO commit? I do every night. It's time to get your head out of the clouds and get real. The bride of Christ is the body of Christ, not just a select few who think they are perfect. I'd venture to say that it's more likely that those types are the ones that will be left behind, not my type.
Excellent post.......Thank you

This is yet another misconception. Paul struggled with sin, as he speaks of in Romans, when he was under Moses' law. Those who lived under the law could not overcome sin because they were still in the flesh. That is why they had to sacrifice animals all the time. But, Christ came to gives us grace, which is of the Spirit.

Jesus said, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24)

When you have grace, you are washed in the blood of Jesus. He gives you what is needed to walk in the spirit, not in the flesh. Many can't overcome sin because they are still in the flesh and in the world. These are the very things that are hindering them.

Jesus loves you and wants to bring you into His Glory, but you must yield completely to Him so that He can purge you of any seed of sin. If, however, you will not accept what He bled and died to deliver to us, then you will die in your sins; and, you will lift up your eyes in the flame of hell.

(Matthew 7:19-21) "Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

The Father's will is for us not to sin, and we must. One sin caused God to cast out Adam & Eve from the Garden of Eden. Think real hard on that.

You did not answer my post #32 PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY........Have you ever once commited a sin no matter how small or a sin of omission since you have been saved......please share with the rest of us......What do you suppose has perfected you......some of us still struggle....Is it something you did? or did the God perfect you? Was there a time in your early Christian walk when you struggled......I think we would like you to "be specific" in your insights

Here is invincible truth: Jesus is going to return and we better be ready! As Christians, we must focus on our duty to God and our brethren in Christ.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

We can be certain that nothing, even mankind's disapproval, is going to change our Father's plan for the end.

If you commit willful sin after a true born-again experience, can you get back to God? Yes, with godly sorrow. Without godly sorrow, however, you will not be determined to overcome all sin. Your prayers are just blowing in the wind. Like Peter before the crucifixion, he committed willful sin against God; but, he repented with godly sorrow and we have no record of any more sin from Peter. He very well could have gone the way of Judas, but thank God he did not. Peter went on to be a great soldier of the cross.

(2 Corinthians 7:10) "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of..."

(Hebrews 10:26) "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"

I am asking YOU (not Peter)... again; Personnaly have you ever commited any sin small or large since you have had a "true" born again experience? If you have, maybe you were never really born again to begin with?????......If you can answer that question openly and honestly....I and others on this thread would like to know.....(or are you avoiding the answer)....Most of us already recognize that we can be forgiven if we are truely repentant and ask God's forgiveness when we sin and then we are re-restored to a proper relationship with God who helps us in our walk and holds us close so we do not stray ......What is your personal experience on this matter.....(Please RE-READ post#32)

"Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16)

"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48)

I'm giving you the Word of God. You must be holy, and there is no sin in holiness.

(Ephesians 4:24) "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."

How can anyone possibly dispute God's Word?

I asked YOU a simple HONEST question but since you will not answer it.....it shows that you are not being honest on this forum with others......I will ask you one LAST time have YOU ever commmited a sin either large or small since you have been born again.....do you ever slip up and sin or have you had a perfect spotless record since being born again....... if so how was that accomplished; since most of us are still sruggling from time to time;tell us how God enabled you to overcome..............if you have sinned does that mean you were never born again to begin with.......Thank you and I rest my case......
