But didn't God grant us with repentance and belief? so why did we believe and they didn't? What sets us apart from unbelievers?
Because God selected certain people to be saved from the beginning according to some views. However this does not correlate with scriptures like this one which show God's desire for all to be saved. There is a contradiction. God bless.
It's our nature to sin, not to hate him. We're made in the image of God. I don't think we hate ourselves. I choose God freely because God gave me freewilll to choose him. Because if we're forced to love him, then it is no love at all.
You are speaking of two extremes... either
1. we love Him 100% all on our own.
2. we are forced to love him kicking and screaming.
There is something in between those two extremes.
Does a husband love his wife without cause, all on his own, due only to his free will. Or are there actually characteristics about his wife that make her irresistible to him, so that he can not help but to love her? Is it because of the husband that he loves his wife, or because of the wife that he loves his wife?

I believe this scripture is clear which we are dealing with. If this God's desire then why isn't everybody Christian today. Why have people died unrepentant in their sins?

This what Calvinist call the doctrine of "irresistible grace"

From your posts, I assume your position is not that God can't save all but that He won't? How do you reconcile that with the passage you've posted in your OP? I never could.

I only can go from scripture, no presupposition deal with this particular verse. I believe God desires all to be saved but it is obvious from looking at the world that all aren't saved. Is it just a desire or the will or is it one in the same?
Why would God desire or will something that could never happen, Fundy? That is a contradiction in itself. The fact that all are not saved today says nothing of God's power and ability beyond death. (just making an observation)God bless.

We are all born bent away from God, some of us respond when He calls, others do not. Maybe it's pride or thinking they have to give up something, not realizing how much they would gain.
