For the same reason that God chose Israel instead of any other nation at the time. It was his prerogative. Scripture doesn't tell us why God chose Abraham. It just tells us that he did.

Do a backwards genealogy tree and you'll find that every race \ nation \ peoples came from Noah and his sons family.
(but that's of course one has to recognize that the Bible is accurate)
Or, if the argumentists say there was only a "local" flood ... then one has to do a backwards genealogy tree to Adam & Eve.

Point being ..... the responsibility of passing on the truth of who the true God is falls upon the parents.
At one time in history, whoever the Indians can trace through their ancestry to ... somebody's parents knew and told the children.

twin.spin, that does not really answer the original post.

The indians, living many thousands of miles away from Israel, had no idea Christ died for them until missionaries brought the message to them. The evangel does not rely upon a genealogical handing down of truth but by the evangelists hand-picked by God to bring the message.

God revealed himself in 1492. The Indians rejected him and the rest is history.

That is a falsehood. Many Indians believed the evangel and became Christians. Just because some did not does not mean all did not. That's like saying Americans rejected Him because some Americans do.
