Philadelphia could graduate to a Beta world city now that Comcast has become a media corporation with global influence (NBC).

After reading one of these articles from the brookings institute, are we talking top list based on national lists or global standards?

Overall these rankings are US centric.

HOWEVER

All of the 10 ten cities on the first post are in the top 50 world wide according to most experts. This is unique since most countries world wide have one, maybe two, world class/economic powerhouses. We have a dozen.

^Ok, I was just wondering. With the US being so big it should have that many. How many cities does the EU have? That would be a good gauge.

Agree as an interesting comparator but the EU has nearly 180 million more people

That is quite interesting. I didn't know the EU was that much larger than the US. I thought they were closer. With that said, some sort of equalizer stat would have to be configured in order to account for that. Like global city per capita.

I'm assuming you mean the cities in the EU are older. The EU itself is only like a decade or so old.
