what's sad is that you think "dressing it up" will solve the deeper issue. and you're the one spouting how important history is to you so clearly you would understand that the history of places often can tell you all you need to now about why and how they are the way they are currently. yeah, there is a lot of poverty in dallas as there is in ft. worth. i'm sorry that that scares you. perhaps it is better that you stay in euless and make a once-every-two-weeks trip to sundance square to feel super big city. i've been going to fair park many times a year for my entire life and have never been the victim of or witnessed a crime. fair park is actually pretty safe. if you were wandering around the hood scared then you should get a gps not blame it on one of the greatest treasures our area and state has.
Wow. And you're talking about ignorance?
For one thing, that's a nice lil' nudge at me and all, but I live in Southwest FW, those "once every two weeks trip" to Sundance is really a once in a while ride around the ENTIRE city to see what's new, what can be changed, and what can be done right. And again, I don't feel that Fort Worth is a "super big city", nor would I really want it to be. YOU might not have seen crimes, but I have (snotty and rude attitudes, as well) . In AND out the park. I got to the Fair every single year. Got people who live in South Dallas. I KNOW what I see.
Fair Park is great, but I say there needs to be something done. Some places just need to be fixed. The poverty issue is something that's long term. Do something while you can, no matter how little it is. But that's something city leaders need to talk AND do something about, so what's the point of jabbing back and forth on a forum?
they absolutely will! kdogg you are the most contradictory poster i've ever read on c-d! do you want the stockyards and billy bob's to be the icons of your city or not?
you say, to a dallasite bigger is better. then brag about ft. worth's big growth. you talk about how great ft. worth embracing its heritage is, i.e. the stockyards, and about how proud ft. worth is to be a 'texas city' then say how disgusted you'd be if ESPN shows stetsons and cows in its coverage. sheesh, you're killing me!

then please, go fix it! because it ain't that easy. are you that out of touch with reality? there are tons of projects going on right now to revitalize south dallas, as well as continue to spruce up the breathtaking fair park. but these things take money, take time, take political backing, take community support, etc. its not just a snap of the fingers.

South Dallas and the southside of Fort Worth look similar to me. Honestly I hate going to the southside of Fort Worth its depressing...

It's not MY city. And again, that's why I said "Do what something can, NO MATTER HOW LITTLE IT IS". Paint a fence.....
And yes, BOTH cities south sides are pretty bad with there own projects to fix them. However, the only reason why the Dallas south side is being made a big deal here is because YOU guys are the ones with the major attraction in near south. . . . .
