do you know anything about the history of that area? i'm betting no. and yeah, dallas has some severe poverty issues to deal with. and no, our attractions are not all neatly packaged in a ten block radius so that visitors don't see other sides of the city.

Oh and we adore this guy:
1ne - The Texas Centennial Celebration was in 1936..... we're talking about now.

And 2wo - Having the State Fair is a once a year event where you only show your Texas pride for a few weeks. The rest of the year, you get trendy, night clubs and celebrity worship that reminds everyone of how much you DON'T want to be known as a Texas city. And before you start, I'm not talking about every single person from or living in Dallas. That just seems to be the attitude.... that you don't want to be a Texas city. It feels more like Atlanta.

You know they will!

What will **** you off even more is that everyone watching TV will think that is Dallas. Oh and that might **** us off, too!

Actually, I do. And it's sad, really, that the area that gains most visitors hasn't been dressed up much. I still see broken down houses and residents who just don't know how to act. It gets scary some times. History aside, focus on now, ya know?

I don't care about how close your attractions are. I care about gettin' myself and who ever I'm with out safely. That's the thing....

Prepared to be highly pissed off. Because that's what ESPN said and why they chose Fort Worth before Dallas.

what's sad is that you think "dressing it up" will solve the deeper issue. and you're the one spouting how important history is to you so clearly you would understand that the history of places often can tell you all you need to now about why and how they are the way they are currently. yeah, there is a lot of poverty in dallas as there is in ft. worth. i'm sorry that that scares you. perhaps it is better that you stay in euless and make a once-every-two-weeks trip to sundance square to feel super big city. i've been going to fair park many times a year for my entire life and have never been the victim of or witnessed a crime. fair park is actually pretty safe. if you were wandering around the hood scared then you should get a gps not blame it on one of the greatest treasures our area and state has.

Gee I will have to show you all my knife and bullet scars from never missing a State Fair in my life.

Hey we went to school with some of the people who live on the north side of Fair Park. They are our friends. In fact one of my very best friends lived off Dolphin and went to SMU with me. Tim Brown lived across the street.

I'm a native Dallasite, born in Baylor Hospital. I live not far from Fair Park. This picture was taken of my porch a couple of days ago. Do I look like I don't want to be known as a Texan?
