Absolutely. People view the whole thing as one area and under the umbrella of the Dallas name. Thats just how it is.

But Bass&Catfish is right. I have yet to meet a person here or in Fort Worth in person that actually cared.

In about 15 years Dallas vs Ft Worth is gonna be nastier than Dallas vs Houston could have ever hoped to be.

I think the Dallas vs Houston one is more hush hush.

D vs FW is more vocal

Yes, you do get the occasional smug Dallasite making a comment about backward Cowtown, but that is pretty rare.

IMHO = Fort Worth is a much nicer area to live.
Are you serious I here Dallasites make that claim all the time. Some think they are to good to step foot in Fort Worth. Famous line "Ooh I don't go to Fort Worth". I had a co-worker from Desoto tell me it seems like when you enter Arlington city limits it starts looking really country. I just looked at her.

actually he's right. Outside of Texas, people do see that entire area as just Dallas. They think Fort Worth is a suburb of Dallas.

All please you don't even like Fort Worth. The majority of the time you defend Dallas and put Fort Worth down. The airport is called DFW airport for a reason. I am so glad Mayor Mike Moncrief is our mayor. You can tell he really wants to stick it to Dallas (has done a nice job doing it since 2000). I remember that interview with cbs about Fort Worth explosive growth and how he stated something to the like of "Its been a long time coming". He made it very clear I think Fort Worth wants to be top dog.

Could you copy and paste where I said myself that I don't like Fort Worth. I'd appreciate it. I defend Dallas because for one, it is unfairly bashed by EVERYONE on this forum every time and even fellow Texans. It also has more of my liking as it is more urban, dense, better infrastructure, more amenities, and better public transit. But nowhere did I put down Fort Worth. So copy and paste where I put down Fort Worth.

That's nice and all and I hope he does. But your problem is not Dallas. Your problem is Fort Worth itself. It's not Dallas fault that the majority of the nation looks at Fort Worth as a suburb of Dallas. It's not Dallas fault that is by far the more popular city and is more known throughout the land. Dallas gets it's name out there. Fort Worth does not. It's not Dallas fault that the entire metro area is looked at upon as Dallas. Just like the Bay Area is looked at as San Francisco Bay Area or the Tampa/St. Pete area is called the Tampa Bay area or Miami/Ft.Lauderdale/WPB area is looked at as just simply Miami. The bigger city and popular city is going to more of the credit.

It gets ugly..... trust me.

Honestly, the only real reason why I care ALOT is because I have ALOT of city pride. It's always been that way and I admit, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the city of Dallas (and so does the rest of my family....)

And Spade is right. Fort Worth hasn't (past tense) gotten its name out as well as other cities. But that's changing. Now I wouldn't want it to be like NYC or L.A. or even Houston, but I do want this city to grow and grow the RIGHT way, and with the leadership we have and current projects in place, I don't worry about the negatives.

And as a native, I honestly don't care we're not THAT well known, but all I ever ask is to just stop calling us "Dallas"..... really, that's all.
