True. I live in suburb outside of Houston called Sugar Land which is only 5% black. Most older blacks here are college educated, married, and make over $100,000. However, most young blacks here behave as if they were raised in the ghetto, even though they are living the privilege life (my SISTER!!!) sad.

I'm a young black college student and I was considering relocating to Philly from Houston, good idea?

That would be a horrible idea. What makes you want to move to Philly??? Especially as a college student.

By the way, I think this thread has a lot of people that don't understand how to comprehend what they read.

Why would that be a horrible idea? Philly has more prestigious colleges, is close to NYC, and is alot more fun/interesting for a young adult.

No one denied that Houston and Dallas have large black communities where people are doing quite well for themselves, but historically, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, and DC have been more well known. I guess some posters just want to argue without letting logic, facts, and examples get in the way.

I don't even know why Flyingwriter/Kazoobrain still tries. He has been exposed over and over again as a self-hating tragic mulatto stereotype who thinks that totally disowning his black side will make him more appealing to the whites he so desperately wants to be and makes Uncle Ruckus look like Marcus Garvey, and yet he continues to fall upon his sword.
Hey! I haven't seen you in a while.

I never denied Chicago, Atlanta or DC historic black communities. There are a couple of other cities Detroit and New Orleans that can also make that claim.

Atlanta was the chosen city of black media. Just look at the census data back in 1990 and you will see Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston black population where very similar in raw numbers. Atlanta gained a significant edge on those cities due enlarge part to black media. Negroes moved to ATL because BET said it was the promise land and you know it is some truth that O_O.

From my visit to Atlanta, it seems like the entire scene of the city revolves around the African American hip hop culture. I would say that they are the black capital of America.

No one is denying Houston and Dallas are great cities for Black Americans though. However, as of present. Atlanta is the most favored city for African Americans.....at least based on the growth there.
