Well, Quebec does have inferiority issues with respect to the rest of Canada, in a similar way that Canada has with respect to the United States.
Quebec does have "issues" with respect to the rest of Canada, but I am not sure that it has anything to do with "inferiority"... perhaps more superiority, as someone else said.
That's true, but Philly usually holds its own pretty well, that's why it's kind of a shocker. The foreign allure I would think could go for London or Rome, hell, even Melbourne, but I wouldn't think Montreal that much.
Montreal hands down! Philly's downtown reminds me awfully like Downtown LA but smaller. I was in Philly's Center City a few months ago and was not impressed at all. Dt Montreal is much more exciting with the Underground and tons of shopping on St. Catherine and St. Lawrence St. Philly is boring with not as many women with strollers or middle class people like they do in Dt. Montreal. Downtown Montreal is complete and Philly Center City or downtown is a work in progress. It's(Philly downtown) not going to any further unless it gets subsidized by the government, which is not going to happen anymore.

Please pardon my candor, BUT WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Downtown LA has hardly anything in common at all with Center City Philly, unless I missed something? Apparently you missed something in Center City like you know...one of the country's premier art museums, fascinating modern & historic architecture (Liberty Place, City Hall, the charming brownstones), South St., Rittenhouse Square, some of the nation's most important historic sights. To prefer Montreal is fine, but I'm calling BS on you, you really haven't been to CC Philly by the way you describe it and write it off with nothing to back it up. Downtown LA? That's a huge oxymoron comparison.

Caphillsea, whats funny is that I was in dt LA yesterday and a couple stopped me to ask for directions to Louie's restaurant. They too said dt LA reminds them of dt Philadelphia. Maybe its the narrow streets or the old architecture? The couple was from Wilmington De.
I'd like to point out that Montreal is actually two cities in one because its underground corridors and concourses (where it's fantastic subway system is) means you get a lot of city.
Montreal' downtown is nicer, while Philly's is a joke
sez the cat who's never seen montreal in his life
i actually agree. and how is montreal better?
