Oh, that explains it then. Hispanics in LA never commit violent crimes.
My point with that comment was to show that there has been a demographic shift in Compton, as well as Inglewood, Lynwood and other sububrban cities near South LA, as well as much of South LA itself.
Folks this list is based on violent crime, which doesn't include thefts, burglaries, drug dealing, prostitution, illegal gambling, etc. That's why some of the "usual suspects" are missing from the list.

Elizabeth is on there , but Newark isn't , Elizabeth has less crime then Newark....this list smells fishy...
chicago doesn't release its crime figures to the fbi, so this list is incomplete (and meaningless).
Chicago releases everything, it's just they classify forced rape in a way that the fed doesn't like - so the fed punts it out of their lists. Chicago is at 1,125 for 2010.
It's all so relative to your location in the city that 1,125 really means nothing on the ground. You've got about 25% of the city that's probably around 2,750 and the rest that's probably around 650.
If we can hold on to the 11% reduction in violent crime through April (which we have through May) for the rest of the year, we might actually bump below 1,000 violent crimes per capita for probably the first time since my grandparents were in high school.
Over half the murders are in 5 of the 25 police districts, areas that slice down from the west to south central areas of the city, and areas that have seen some of the greatest population losses over the past 50 years.

Is Nashville that bad? I was thinking of moving there because 1. Hipster haven 2. diverse culture. I had always heard Memphis equals ghetto, Nashville equals decent.
And for Buffalo, that's about right. A lot of rough areas in Buffalo. You can find some cool places like Elmwood, Allentown, Delware area. The rest is pretty rough. I don't like walking the streets at night even in the nice areas.
