I have never heard "CalMex" either, I was just using it as a creative short hand, so calm down

It might actually taste good, but it LOOKS like several people took turns throwing up on a tortilla.

Chicago's Mexican food is dense, walkable, and has great PT.

Lol what? I'm just being honest. It might actually be a tasty dish, but it doesn't look very appetizing to me.

I don't get what you mean about Taco Bell.

I like the results of the poll, surely LA with it's size & variety has the overall best, and for 2nd a push between San Antonio and ABQ, probably depending on which you prefer...I can't decide, I think overall Tex-Mex is better but I do love me some green chiles! Personal preference for me: Texas > New Mexico > California.

Also, SA has incredible Tex-Mex but also has TONS of regional Mexican food too...one of the most renowned local joints in SA isn't Tex-Mex:
Guajillo's The Shortcut to Mexico - San Antonio, TX
Try Canyon Cafe in The Quarry. It's a fusion of Tex Mex and New Mexican food and very good.

LOL wait a minute. The food is dense and has great public transit? The food itself?

just giving you a hard time. I've had some great enchiladas in Chicago. But I still would take San Antonio over it.

I agree. they drown the food in all sorts of juices to where you can no longer taste the meat.

I like my food on the drier side. leave the sauces to the side so that I can selectively add flavor. don't drown the thing in it.
