The Korean and Chinese is definately not terrible in New York.

LA? Chicago? Philly? Boston? Several places come to mind before Houston does.
Why Philly and Boston? Just wondering. I would say Houston is at their level if anything and they are interchangeable.

I would put Houston ahead of NOLA overall. It may not be as unique as NOLA but it has more options and diversity.

After NYC

1. Chicago
2. LA
3. SF
4.Philly

Maybe not to a tourist from the Midwest, but from someone from the Westcoast it's sub-par to say the least.

I would put Houston above both although its pretty close between Houston and Boston.

Personally, I think Houston is number 5 or 6 in the US after NYC, Chicago, San Fran, LA, and maybe DC/Northern VA. I dont even put New Orleans in my top 10 nor Austin (frankly, although I enjoy Austin, I dont get the fuss about Austin food wise). New Orleans is a very special food city, but it doesnt variety is more important than being unique for food to me. Thats where NOLA falls short.

Im from Los Angeles man. You cant talk down to me on food and I would put NYC on the same level as LA on Chinese and only slightly below LA on Korean.

I would say your definitely pushing it with that statement. You can make a strong argument that San Antonio is a better food city than Houston.

Im from Torrance and I went to UCLA. I lived in West LA, the Mid-Wilshire area, El Segundo, and Garden Grove before leaving the state.

Its irrelevant anyway. Although the best Korean food is indeed in the city of LA in K-Town along Wilshire and Vermont, the best Chinese food in the LA area is NOT in the city of LA. Its in the San Gabriel Valley. Ever been to Monterry Park or Rosemeade?

Sounds like you may not even know where the good Chinese food in the LA area actually is.

I also don't agree with putting NYC as the undisputed food city king by default. It's highly debatable and NYC shouldn't be automatically put on a pedestal in this type of discussion.
