Since it is nearing Halloween, I figured this would be a good thread to get us all in the spirit. Another pointless meaningless list, but this one was actually quite thought out. Zillow compiled the list using:

Quote:
"There is a common belief that wealthy neighborhoods are the Holy Grail for harvesting the most Halloween candy. However, to provide a more holistic approach to trick-or-treating, the Zillow Trick-or-Treat Index was calculated using four equally weighted data variables: Zillow Home Value Index, population density, Walk Score and local crime data from Relocation Essentials. Based on those variables, the Index represents cities that will provide the most candy, with the least walking and safety risks.”
The List:

1. San Francisco
2. Boston
3. Honolulu
4. Seattle
5. San Jose
6. Chicago
7. Los Angeles
8. Portland
9. Philadelphia
10. Washington D.C.
11. Minneapolis
12. Pittsburgh
13. Denver
14. Miami
15. San Diego
16. Milwaukee
17. Buffalo
18. Cincinnati
19. Virginia Beach
20. Baltimore

If you click on this link, it will take you to the top 5 neighborhoods in your city that Zillow thinks are the best neighborhoods to trick-or-treat in.

Trick or Treat Index - The Best Places to Trick or Treat | Zillow Blog

Note: they haven't released all neighborhoods for every city yet.

For Philadelphia the neighborhoods are:

Chestnut Hill
Manayunk
Mount Airy
South Philadelphia
Fox Chase

Where's New Orleans? I imagine it to be a very cool city to be in around Halloween.

And how can the US city with the least amount of children (San Francisco) be #1 for trick-or-treating?
LOL. Do Oakland's kids go trick-or-treating in SF for the night?

Well I have always lived in large apartment buildings, so never really had trick-or-treaters while living in the city (and not even in Thousand Oaks either, in a more garden-style apartment complex).

I think that's why most of the neighborhoods listed and considered for each city are low-rise townhome or rowhome neighborhoods.

I don't think they necessarily studied which city had the most kids... what they did was conclude what cities WOULD be the best cities to trick or treat given the criteria.

If you're looking for a cool area around here to go trick or treating, I remember going to the hills behind Burbank during Halloween. I mean, that's where my parents took me as a kid.... I dunno about now though, seems a bit more dead than it was in the 1990s.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios and Knotts Scary Farm is cool too, but they both get extremely packed..and it isn't exactly trick or treating. Good for kids though.

There's a sorority that also moved down the street from me, so at least I know what I'm doing on Halloween

I was being really facetious, I don't even have kids

It's kind of a bummer that people are taking their kids more and more to malls and stuff like that.
