definitely not a unique thing, but Chicago definitely had a large meat packing industry which came with the city being meat heavy in general.

Indeed, but the link has Chicago and NYC the first two cities on the list.

That's every city in a state divided country.

Tell me where you see the lake ending, I'll take the absolutely safe Lake Michigan over several bodies of water that are identified as "gulf, ocean, sea" or whatever else.

Where's the end of the lake? Do you see it?
East to west you can see across Lake Michigan. North to South, no.

You can't see across the Gulf of Mexico any direction.

From what standpoint? Have you ever been to Lake Michigan? No you cannot see Michigan from Chicago. Wow you are proving that you know absolutely nothing To answer your question, no you cannot see the shorelines from East to West.

You see the Earth is a sphere, so a horizon is not flat. Anyway, I rest my case that you don't know what you are talking about. Yeah pretty embarassing if you ask me.

You have no idea what you are talking about. We aren't talking about those fake lakes in Texas. We're talking about giant lakes. You would easily mistake them for seas.

You can actually see Michigan from the top of the Willis Tower or Hancock building, but you probably can't spot any whitefish from that height, maybe if Lake Michigan had sharks you would be able to see them swimming before they arrived on your plate later that evening, their salty gills and head starting to make a stench from the back alley trash can creating a dining ambiance often imitated but never duplicated.
