Don't think so. California and Wisconsin are the top 2 cheese producers. Wisconsin is #1 in cheddar and American cheese, while California is #1 in everything else; jack, Italian cheeses, provolone, mozzarella etc.
You need to visit California sometime....
Or maybe you need to visit Milwaukee sometime

LA does a lot of food very well, but hamburgers? The best hamburgers are across middle America where the beef is - Midwest and Texas. Just makes sense. California has the worst hamburgers in terms of band-for-your-buck in the country.
Try In-N-Out next time. LA area = burger capital. In-N-Out, birthplace of McDonald's, nowhere is close. LA = heart of historic ranch country with the mega Irvine, Hollister, Tejon, etc. ranches in the area. Also, all the ingredients of a well topped burger are grown or produced locally almost all year round.
We've all tried In-N-Out - it's a nice fast food burger. I prefer Culver's, but In-N-Out is up there for fast food chains. These fast food chains do not compare to a real hamburger, however.
Houston should be in the conversation. I'd definitely put it right up there with Chicago. Never really thought of SF as having great food outside of Asian cuisine.
Houston has some of the best Southern, Soul, Vietnamese, barbecue and Mexican food you can find. I actually think it's a crime that more southern cities aren't being mentioned.
As far as fast food burgers, Whataburger beat In-N-Out. Culver's is pretty good.
